I've been reading Formally Known as the Justice League almost everyday now. There's only two issues out but it's THAT GOOD! It is funny. It is light-hearted. And so entertaining! Aside from reuniting the old writers and art team (Giffen & DeMatteis, Maguire & Rubenstein), they brought back Bob Lappan! He's the letterer and probably one of the few hand letterers still around. I was so afraid they go with digital lettering, so I'm happy with the decision to go with the letterer that actually made me notice lettering.
The other neat thing about the new Justice League series, is the colouring. It is computer coloured now, but Lee Loughridge has kept the "computer" look to a minimal. Sure there is the odd "colour hold" (manipulating the black ink like with Captan Atom). This "toon shaded" look to the book works really well with the art and the fact that this book is completely nostalgic to the old 80's Justice League series.
This post makes me think I should make a glossary of terms for colouring.
