United Game Artists, a development team of Sega has disbanded. UGA developed three of my favorite video games, the stylish fun and funky Space Channel 5 & Space Channel 5 Part 2 and the very cool Trance-music Shooter, Rez. The following letter is now on the mainpage of UGA's website:
I'm quite sad about the announcement, but UGA doesn't produce too many games so I am not shocked by it either. I do not know what this will mean for the future of the J-Phone service or future sequels to Space Channel 5 or Rez. UGA was absorbed by SonicTeam so hopefully future projects by this development team will utilize the funk, flare and imagination of the amazing UGA.
My love for Space Channel 5 had inspired me to make a fanpage based on the games. I am still going to update this page regularly. Please visit my Unofficial Space Channel 5 Swingin' Web Space. I'm on track to do decent updates every couple of weeks. Also, Space Channel 5 Part 2 is coming out (finally) in North America in November for PS2. Make sure to check it out.
Sayonara, United Game Artists. It has been a pleasure.
Thank you so much for visiting u-ga.com.
Due to SEGA R&D studio's reorganization,
United Game Artists transferred its entire business into Sonicteam Ltd.
as of 1st October, 2003 JPT.
We sincerely appreciate your enthusiastic support.
Best wishes to you all!
