Steph's Life in General
Camping Weekend
We went to Crescent Falls located near Nordegg, Alberta. It was absolutely stunning. Dean uploaded some photos from the trip HERE. I'm hoping to get pics from Megan and George too (hint hint). And Megan and Russell were way cool for bringing along many luxuries and making yummy meals. Thanks guys!

Day 1: It started to Thundershower when we were setting up tents. Went for a lovely wet walk along the river.
Day 2: Hiked up a mountain. I was so bitchy with a headache. Got to the top. It was beautiful! I loved it so much! Came down the mountain and got lost in a forest. I got bitchy again. Twisted my ankle.
Day 3: I was much more pleasant. Megan bought me birthday cake! George got me a Hello Kitty lunch bag. I fell into the river. It was fun! Then we took off to Rimby, Alberta for Dean's great-grandmother's memorial. After that, we came back to Vegreville and I collapsed from exhaustion.

Work Life
Picked up some pages from Rob Schwager working on Captain America. Rob's a really nice guy! Have to play catch up from the weekend away. And from what I've seen so far, the Madrox series will totally rock.

Politics
Now I wish the Conservatives did win a minority government. They would have made politics in Canada a fiasco. It would have been one screw up after the other. So hilarious! And then they'd get shot down in two months by the other parties and the following election would have wiped out half their seats.

Personal Time
I guess work's killed that! I've been keeping my chat programs off and my message boarding has gone down to a zero. House is a bit neglected from the camping memorial trip and all the work I have. I'll do some cleaning tonight. I have a few personal projects totally getting shafted too. I feel like I don't have enough time to do everything I want. I think once I pay off my Student loan I'm going on a trip! Just need to have two weeks off and travel to someplace overseas. Not Japan though. That'd be a trip with my family and I'm thinking I need something less hectic and more about exploring. Maybe a trip to Europe. Way back when I used to think going alone to backpack Europe would be fun. I've also been in the mood to listen to love songs lately so out came the Savage Garden, Sophie B. Hawkins and Belinda Carlisle CDs. I'm such a sap. I managed to download a bunch of a-ha videos so I'm happy.

VOTE DAY!!
Best political sign this year:

Don't forget to vote kids!

And for god's sake, vote for who you want to represent your riding! Don't vote to vote against someone else. For a democracy to truly be one, pick the person you believe will do the best job. Otherwise you'll be stuck with mediocre representation for the rest of your life and if everyone does what you do, then the good people will never get it.

Happy Birthday Stephanie

Took a hike up the side of a small mountain. Here I am at one of the peaks, 1965 meters up.

I'm back in Vegreville and very very tired. Longer post thing to come.

Canadian Federal Election 2004
There are many things I want in life. But I don't want Stephen Harper Wallpaper. Why would anyone want that?

The best thing from the campaign by far is the return of Ed Broadbent to the NDPs. More specifically, the best thing is the Ed Broadbent Commercial.

ED FREAKIN' BROADBENT IS RAPPING!!!! HOW COOL IS THAT!?!?!?!

By the way, The NDP commercial is in Quicktime, RealPlayer and Windows Media. Stupid Conservatives only put their ads up in Windows Media, which usually freezes my computer. The gay marriage thing was bad enough, but WMP? Screw them! Now there's no way I'm voting for those losers! Stupid Conservatives.

I'm not voting Conservatives
A conversation between a friend and a Conservative campaign representative.

OLD COOT: You're just buying into the Liberal slander campaign.

FRIEND: No, I actually oppose your policies.

OLD COOT: Which ones?

FRIEND: The one where you're opposed to gay marriage, for a start.

OLD COOT: We're not opposed to gay marriage. We just want a free vote in parliament to define marriage.

FRIEND: So you're in favour of gay marriage?

OLD COOT: No, we believe that it should be limited to a man and a woman.

FRIEND: Well, that's kind of discriminatory!

OLD COOT: No, that's what's right, because it's in the Bible.

And then after that, it descended into yelling and screaming! Actually, my friend asked him to quote the passage from the Bible that opposed gay marriage, knowing full well, as a former student of Oblate priests, that there is no such passage. The old coot said: "You're just saying that because you're not a Christian." To which my friend replied: "Well, you haven't read the Bible, it's obvious!" Then my friend who is a reporter asked him for his name because he wanted to continue the conversation in the media or with the old coot's constituency officers, then the old coot hung up.

Travel
I've had the sudden urge to travel internationally. I've always had the desire to go to Japan and Antarctica, but now I want to go see the rest of the world. I want to submerge myself in the culture and the food, and the people.

I think the inspiration is partially watching A Cook's Tour, where chef Tony Bourdain travels the world for unique culinary experiences. I'm certainly not as brave as him (I'll never knowingly eat insects or anything that is still squirming), but I'm easily the bravest eater of all the people I know. So some sort of adventure like that would be fun.

Birthright

Superman Birthright #12

Boy, I sure don't talk about comics, do I? I should have called my site "video game girl" or" cool girl collector girl". I guess I'll talk more about work. Today we received pages for Superman Birthright #12. Then it occurred to me that this is the last issue I'll get to slather colour over the pretty line work of Leinil Francis Yu and Gerry Alanguilan. I'm a bit sad about that since this was my favorite line art I have worked on. Thanks to Dave McCaig for having Dean and I as your flatters and friends. I look forward to the next assignment. But until then, I have some Catwoman pages to do for the ever fun and lovable Laurie Kronenberg.

Work Work Work Work Work
Okay, so remember how I figured I would be working tight till the 3rd? I think more realistically, it's until the 5th. I swear, after this batch of pages, I don't want to look at or read another comic for a month. Don't get me wrong, I love my job! Flatting comics is great but I just need a vacation.

Quick list of things I want to be doing besides colouring:

  • gardening
  • cooking
  • reading books
  • playing with dolls
  • playing video games
  • laying in the sun
  • laying in bed

    An's Auctions

I feel I should point out my friend Andrea is auctioning off some of her creations. Every month or two she does this with custom and OOAK (One Of A Kind) fashions for Cy Girls, Tyler and Super Dollfie. I highly recommend checking it out. The design and quality is superb and Andrea is such a nice person!
