Steph's Deviled Eggs
I was craving deviled eggs and had no praprika or mustard. So compensated with Dean's favorite, "Hy's Seasoning Salt". I was pretty impressed with the results.

(sorry, no image at this time)
6 6 hard-cooked eggs, peeled
60 mL 1/4 cup mayonnaise-style salad dressing (like "Miracle Whip")or mayonnaise
10 mL 2 teaspoons seasoning salt (use your favorite, I like Hy's seasoning salt)

Directions:

  • Cut eggs in half lengthwise and scoop out the yolks and mash in a bowl with a fork
  • Whip the mayo into the yolks in until smooth. Add more mayo if it seems too dry.
  • Stir in seasoning salt. Give it a taste to adjust to your preferences.
  • Spoon the yolks back into the egg whites.

Makes 12 pieces

Serving Notes:

  • Garnish with a few sprigs of fresh chives or parsly leaves and maybe a sprinkle of paprika because it's pretty.
  • Instead of spooning the yolks back into the whites, try using a cake decoratorating piping bag with a star tip.

Substitution Notes:

  • I guess this recipeis actually a subsitution of a standard deviled eggs recipe.
  • Taste as you go. Maybe you like it more or less salty than me.
  • Instead of seasoning salt, try other types of seasoning mixes like Santa fe, or cajun. Even salt free blends (like Mrs. Dash) work.

Additional Information:

Hy's Steakhouse is a popular Canadian restaurant which came out with its own line of seasonings produced by McCormick Canada. The seasonings are sold in most grocery stores throughout the country. There are grocery internet stores targeted to Canadians abroad that miss products like this.
